June 2026 ISSUE #01
In this first issue of The Legends Journal, we head out on the Sea of Cortez with a local captain whose idea of catching dinner was enough to feed a wedding. We also take a look at one of our favorite pieces of camp gear, the Kelty Loveseat, after more than five years of hard use. In Lullabies, Legends & Lies, we share the remarkable story of Bertie Meling and the legendary horseback ride that saved her family's cattle and cemented her place in Baja history. Finally, we highlight our upcoming Pacific Ocean Adventure, exploring one of the peninsula's most remote and spectacular coastlines. We hope this first issue leaves you feeling a little more connected to the people, stories, and wild places that make Baja so special.
JULY 2026 ISSUE #02
Issue #02 is a Baja field note in four parts: the serial breakdowns of Scooby, a 1990 Ford Econoline that hydrolocked, lost wheels, and limped into town on headlamps before Nathan sold it and bought a boat; a yes on TieGear tent pegs and guy ropes after three years and 26,000 miles; the story of Arturo Grosso, who in 1925 carved the El Rosario to El Arco road that became Highway 1 and later blasted the San Felipe to Laguna Chapala route through The Three Sisters; and a pitch for the Southern Baja Adventure, October 11–16, starting and ending in Cabo.
August 2026 ISSUE #03
Issue #03 checks in on a warm August in Baja, with storms still missing the peninsula and one last northern trip before winter in the south. The trail piece is a slow crawl down Cañón El Mano, clearing rockslides on a remote ranch road that stays open only because people keep moving the rocks. The gear note explains why he came back to Falken all-terrains after mud-terrains proved too loud, heavy, and soft for the mix of highway and sharp Baja rock. The legend is El Mechudo, a Yaqui pearl diver who never surfaced on his last dive and is still said to haunt the point north of La Paz. It closes with Almost an Island, the October Cape trip that starts and ends in Cabo and stays off the resort track.
Issue #4 of The Legend’s Journal is late, thanks to hurricanes, the Baja Rally, and a cold, but it covers a new Christmas panga parade tradition in Bahía de los Ángeles, a GlueTread tire kit review on why a spare is no longer necessary, a deep dive on Hurricane Polo, the 1740 chubasco that started the first civilian town in the Californias, and the Loreto expedition running January 10–15, 2027.
