Border Crossing

  • Our team will accompany you throughout the entire trip, from San Diego, thru the border crossing, into Baja, and back again. You will be given a radio to keep in constant communication if your vehicle is not already equipped with one. Our caravan will cross the border as a group with a guide car at the front and back of our group to ensure everyone gets through before departing for our adventure.

We will stop at the border crossing to get our tourist visas (required for everyone entering Mexico). You’ll walk up to the office, fill out the visa form, pay (approx. $35) and get your receipt. Visas are good for 6 months.

At that point we’ll hop back in our vehicles to drive across the border.

The San Ysidro Port of Entry can seem intense. It’s the 4th busiest land border crossing in the world, from a very affluent country to a nonaffluent community. The guards and military personnel are heavily armed.

Once we’re through we’ll skirt the outskirts of Tijuana, get onto a toll road, and cruise down the coast into Ensenada.

*We are well prepared, however International borders can be unpredictable with changes we cannot foresee. We will be with you every step of the way.

  • Probably. Our vehicles typically have a lot of gear and are commonly stopped & searched. They’re mainly checking to ensure you’re not bringing in a bunch of goods or gear to sell across the border. They will check your vehicle for any not allowed items (guns, drugs, etc) and send you on your way. It’s a pretty easy process.

*You will have a radio to keep in constant communication with us. We are used to getting our own vehicles searched and will be with you every step of the way.

  • -Valid Passports for everyone in your vehicle

    - Copies of your vehicle’s Certificate of Title (pink slips) & registration
(also needed for trailer if applicable)

-Tourist Visa, which you will purchase immediately at the border crossing (approx. $35)

    -Valid Driver’s License

  • USA to Mexico - about an hour from leaving the US to cruising down the coast to Ensenada.

Mexico to USA - 1-6 hours depending on a variety of factors out of our control (number of lanes open, border congestion, etc)

*We are well prepared, however International borders can be unpredictable with changes we cannot foresee. We will be with you every step of the way.

  • The typical items you would expect to not be allowed to cross the border:

    -Firearms

    -Fireworks

    -Drugs

    Mexico to USA
all of the above items as well as:

    -Cuban Cigars

-Alcohol quantities are limited, ask your guide for more info

    -Fruits & Veggies

When we are traveling through the rest of Baja we stay within areas we have previously scouted and talked with locals to ensure we only choose the safest locations for our guests and our trips.
